World Laughter Day

Let’s be honest — life be life-ing.
Bills. News cycles. Group chats that never end.
Sometimes the weight of the world feels like it’s pressing on your chest. And yet…
we still laugh.

That, right there?
That’s power.

On this World Laughter Day, I’m not just celebrating the sound of joy — I’m honoring the survival in it.
Because laughter is more than funny memes and group texts with your favorite cousins.
Laughter is medicine. Memory. Muscle.
Laughter is ancestral armor — passed down in the form of cackles, side-eyes, and “don’t let me catch a case” chuckles in the breakroom.

Laughter is how we soften the blow and share the load.
It’s how we exhale without giving up.
It’s how we remind each other, “We’re still here.”

And let’s be clear — we don’t laugh because everything is perfect.
We laugh because everything ain’t, and somehow, we still rise.

So today, I invite you to:

  • Call that one friend who can make you laugh until your stomach hurts.
  • Watch something stupid and silly without needing it to be “deep.”
  • Reclaim the kind of laughter that doesn’t apologize — the kind that snorts, wheezes, tears up, and brings you back to yourself.

Because on World Laughter Day — we honor the giggle, the cackle, the LOL, the “I’m not supposed to laugh but I did” moment.

And if nobody told you today:
You deserve joy. Without guilt. Without conditions. Just because.

What’s the last thing that made you laugh until you cried?
