This exciting one-day “OUTDOOR” event is for the entire family celebrating “FREEDOM” in the expression of books, music, art & spoken word.
Spectators will shop over 40 Exhibitors — a fierce group of talented ‘neighborhood’ indie book authors, artists and artisans i.e. books, paintings, music, drawings, ceramics, clothing, candles, soaps, skincare, jewelry, plants, houseware and more!
LIVE Storytelling: Celebrated storytellers and spoken-word artists will share folktales from Africa and the African Diaspora that focus on Juneteenth ~ Intellectual Literacy = Freedom! Authors and attendees are invited to share their stories starting at 1:30pm.
LIVE Music & Youth Marching Band: Enjoy old-school, nostalgic music by DJ Holly and an enchanting afternoon with Inkster’s American International Academy – District Youth String Ensemble, Hand Chime Choir and Marching Band!
KIDZONE: Juneteenth storytelling, face-painting, bookmarks, silicone wristbands and FUN coloring activity. FREE ice cream!
Juneteenth Souvenirs: T-shirts, necklaces and books will be on sale.
The Commons Cafe: Grab a bite to eat or drink at this wonderful neighborhood corner cafe!
